The enigmatic language

I want to share a story, a true story, with you that I saw on television. I'm manipulating the story because I don't remember it completely.

This story is of a sailor who planned to sail across a sea. He carried with himself supplies of food and fresh water to survive in his journey. It took him more time in water than he had expected. A day came when there was no more food and fresh water left. From that day onward, he survived by eating fish and drinking fresh water that he got from rain. One day this sailor felt a strong urge of eating something he never tasted before. He desperately wanted to eat fish's eye. He did not knew why this was happening to him until days later when he told his story to his doctor friend. He came to know that his body was lacking certain nutrients about which his body was well aware. He can get that those nutrients from the fish's eye only because he had no other options. So his body gave him the signal in the form burning urge.

It was the sailor's will to survive that made all this happen.
